Giving is gaining: How women support each other at “Way Forward”

This International Women’s Day, the theme is “Give to Gain”. It is a simple but powerful idea: when we give our time, our kindness, or our stories to others, we actually gain something back.

In our Way Forward support group, we see this happen every single week. Our group is for women who are affected by another person’s gambling. Coming to a group for the first time can be scary. Many women feel nervous or anxious about talking to strangers. But once they step through the virtual door, something amazing happens.

Making space for each other

Even when they are dealing with their own worries, the women in our groups find the strength to listen to someone else. They create a safe space for each other.

By listening to a different story, they often find a new way to look at their own life and experience. It helps to “share the load” of a heavy day or to say out loud something that’s been going around in your head.

What the women say

We asked the members of Way Forward how being part of the group has helped them. Here is what they told us:

  • You are not alone – “I feel that being in a group… has helped me realise I’m not alone. Hearing other women’s experiences has helped me to view things differently, in a good way, and see things through different eyes.”
  • Breaking the silence – “Just knowing and speaking to others who are in the same position makes you feel less alone and isolated.”
  • Finding the light – “The group provides a safe space for sharing lived experience and helping each other. Others could also see that whilst there may be hurt… there is light in between the tunnels.”
  • Building Trust and Connection – “It has made such a difference being part of a women’s group; being able to share experiences in a very welcoming, trusted and supportive environment; and knowing that you are not alone”.

Why “giving” helps us all

“Giving to Gain” isn’t just about money. It’s about giving support, time, and hope. When we share a lesson learned from our own life, offer a listening ear or make space for all women’s experiences, we are showing that we don’t have to carry our burdens by ourselves. By taking what women need and want seriously, we build a stronger, fairer world for all women and girls.

This International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the confidence and generosity it takes to reach into your own life and offer a personal experience to help someone else. When we share our own journey, our knowledge and encouragement to benefit others, we all rise together.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
